Icon Group and Epworth recently reached an agreement to transition the Epworth Radiation Oncology services (ERO) in Victoria to Icon.
This includes the radiation oncology services at Epworth Richmond, Epworth Freemasons and the public service delivered by ERO at the South West Regional Cancer Centre in Warrnambool.
The agreement follows a detailed review of Epworth’s radiation oncology services, which identified opportunities to deliver the same high quality cancer care in a more sustainable manner.
CEO Mark Middleton says the transition of ERO services aligns with Icon’s mission to deliver cancer care to more people, closer to where they live.
“I am delighted that Epworth share our dedication to providing exceptional cancer care, and welcome the opportunity to have their experience underpinning our service in Victoria,” said Mr Middleton.
"We have a strong commitment to delivering cancer centres close to where people live. We are delighted to join the community in Victoria, and look forward to welcoming the current teams and delivering exceptional care to local residents."
From a service perspective, it will be 'business as usual’ with the same staff providing the same exceptional care and support. The transition is expected to complete by end of 2017.
